    The Armory Show 2019

    PIER 94, BOOTH 706
    7 to 10 March 2019

Galerie Thomas Schulte is pleased to present at this year's booth at The Armory Show selected works by Idris Khan and Jonas Weichsel. While Idris Khan's densely-layered imagery inhabits the space between abstraction and figuration and encompass aspects of history and the metaphysical collapse of time into a single moment, Jonas Weichsel creates minimalist paintings of uncanny precision and impalpability, which upon closer inspection translate into sensuous, lived experiences.
Also on view at the booth will be a painting by New York-based artist Pat Steir as well as a selection of photographs by star photographer Robert Mapplethorpe whose sustained legacy is celebrated this year at the Solomon Guggenheim Museum in New York with a yearlong exhibition.

    ARCO Madrid 2019

    27 February to 3 March 2019

At the booth at ARCOmadrid 2019 Galerie Thomas Schulte is pleased to present three works from Angela de la Cruz’s Crates series, human scale sculptures, aluminum boxes that have been warped to fit into smaller, equally deformed metal filing cabinets. The three freestanding sculptures are juxtaposed with three large paintings by Juan Uslé.
As a special project Galerie Thomas Schulte presents a selection of early works including an early installation by American artist Alice Aycock. Stairs (These Stairs Can Be Climbed) from 1974 will be presented at the booth alongside photographs documenting Aycock's Project for a Circular Building with Narrow Ledges for Walking from 1976 and drawings for her Project for Five Wells Descending a Hillside from 1975.

The main section of the booth will feature an installation of works by Alfredo Jaar, Allan McCollum and Jonathan Lasker—three of the defining positions of the gallery’s program—alongside works by younger, upcoming European artists from the program including Angela de la Cruz, Idris Khan, and Michael Müller.
