Mark Francis (born in 1962 in Newtownards, Northern Ireland) lives and works in London.
Francis developed his eloquent painterly style during the 1990s. Although the content of his work is not especially close to that of the Young British Artists, he is still an important exponent of this time of departure in British art.
His works hosted by important international collections including the Tate Gallery, London, as well as the Saatchi Collection.
Notable solo exhibitions count numerous shows at the Kerlin Gallery, Dublin, Ireland, the Mary Boone Gallery, New York City, and Maureen Paley, London, since 1994.
Additionally, Francis has been part of countless group exhibitions, including the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin (2008), the Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin (1998), and Tate Gallery, London (1993). In spring 2014, Francis will be partaking in the group show, Structures/Strukturen: Brische und deutsche Malerei im Dialog, at Kunsthalle Wilhelmshaven.
