Kirsten Geisler

Kirsten Geisler was born in Berlin in 1949 but was educated in The Netherlands where she has been living since 1979.

Her computer animated installations that aim to merge actual and virtual reality have reached international acclaim.

Select exhibitions include the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam (1995), the Chelsea Art Museum in New York (1997; 2007), the Ludwig Museum in Cologne (1999), the ZKM in Karlsruhe (2000; 2003), and the Deutsches Museum in Munich (2002).

In addition to her work as an artist, Geisler is also a founder and former chairman of Medi@haarlem, the Institute for Media Art in Haarlem in The Netherlands.
